I’m an entrepreneur with deep experience across education and healthcare making a long-term shift into climate work. Most recently, I co-founded a VC-backed startup called Nova Pioneer to build the first affordable, pan-African network of K-12 schools that prepare students to be globally competitive in 21st century careers. Nova Pioneer already serves more than 5,000 students across Kenya and South Africa.
Through a variety of leadership roles I've also helped launch helped launch a number of innovative higher education and education-to-employment ventures in the US and Africa. These organizations—including Kepler and Duet—collectively serve thousands of students through learning models that combine world-class online content, in-person coaching, and on-the-job practice.
Before getting involved in education, I spent over ten years in healthcare at McKinsey & Company, Columbia University, and the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI). I led CHAI’s groundbreaking work on creating and shaping markets for drugs, vaccines, and other health products in the developing world. Since I took on a leadership role in 2006, CHAI has played a leading role in driving the cost of HIV/AIDS treatment down more than 80% and expanding treatment access to nearly 30 million patients. I also served as chair of the Global Fund’s Market Dynamics Committee. and served as advisor to the Gates Foundation.
